Draft methodology to calculate a normalized Freight Density Score. The normalized score is calculated by summing freight related attributes that occur within a region wide half-mile hexbin grid. Freight related attributes include HPMS mileage, Freight Related Employment, Total Employment, Overnight Truck Parking Spaces and Planned Freight Development square footage. Each of these raw counts within a hexbin grid are then normalized (Min-Max Normalization) and weighted to derive a total normalized score.
The Non-Interstate Network Freight Score utilizes the same draft methodology as the hexbin processing, but omits the Interstate Network from the calculated score and applies the results to a linear non-interstate roadway network.
